I am a licensed clinical social worker with a wide array of clinical experiences and interests.  Specifically, I have experience working with male and female clients on a variety of mental health diagnoses, medical diagnoses, grief, loss and abuse.  I further specialize in drug and alcohol treatment with individuals in all stages of recovery.

I received my Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh with a Certification in Mental Health.  Prior to that, I received my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio State University.   I have worked with clients of all ages, ranging from children to the elderly.  I have received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

I have also studied abroad in Southern Africa and worked extensively with refugees.

I believe that confidentiality and trust are of the utmost importance in a therapeutic relationship.  I also believe that clients can tell if their therapist has a genuine concern for their well-being.  Therefore, I base my practice on honesty and respect.  I utilize only evidence-based models and consider ongoing research and continuing education to be a necessary part of my practice.  I am also a strong advocate of client empowerment through client education.

I strive to help my clients examine not only themselves, but their environment as well.  People do not exist in a vacuum and friends and family often have a strong impact on the challenges they face.  Furthermore, I believe that it is critical to approach every client as an individual.  Therapy begins where the client is, whether you are stuck in the memory of a traumatic childhood event or seeking help for minimal anxiety due to your college studies.  It is my goal to provide a safe space where you can share as much or as little as you would like, at your own pace.
